Andrei Rautu
Andrei Ștefan Răuțu had his first hands-on experience with film directing, during an 8 weeks “Filmmaking Certificate” program, at New York Film Academy, in Los Angeles (2011-2012).
In 2013, he released his first short fiction film, “Ela, Panda and Madame”, which offered him the chance to participate at various international film festivals.
Between 2013 and 2016 he studies film directing at the National University of Theatre and Film “I.L Caragiale”. Through an Erasmus Scholarship he makes a short documentary, “Back to the Roots”, nominated for the “Gopo Awards” in 2015.
In the summer of 2016, in Chengdu, he directs, shoots and edit “Chasing Dao”, a short documentary produced by “Looking China” Association. After three weeks spent in China, he comes back to Romania and “Samurai Fantasy”, an experimental film that he made in Portugal, wins the “best experimental film award” at “Filmul de Piatra”.
In 2018, he participates at “Aristoteles Workshop”, where he makes “See you Soon”, a short documentary that was screened at Centre Pompidou, in Paris, during the “Cinema Du Reel” Film Festival.
In autumn 2019 he finishes “Bucharest seen from above”, his first short film financed by the National Centre of Cinema, produced by Saga film.
