Vojtěch Novotný was born in Prague in 1996. He began showing interest in cinema early on, during his childhood. After spending two semesters at the Department of Film Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Charles University, he was accepted to FAMU, the Department of Directing, studying there since October 2017. His film Parole (2020) was shortlisted for the Magnesia Award for the best student film of the year and received the Ecumenical Jury Award at the Molodist Kyiv Festival in Ukraine. He premiered his bachelor film Paradise on Earth to See (2022) at the CinEast festival in Luxembourg this year. He is currently busy preparing his full-length debut entitled God Break Down the Door.
