The Storm Shelter

THE STORM SHELTER (working title) is a 6 x 52 minute contemporary drama series set in the vital and drama filled world of Residential care which follows the lives of care workers and young residents. This volatile environment is a melting pot of emotion and experience where damaged and abandoned young people live amongst constantly challenged care workers. The series will be from the point of view of the care workers and covers all facets of the human spirit, from anger, love, and loneliness to romance, identity and humour. In this microcosm of societal problems, there are many opposing points of view, old care workers and new, managers of care units and their staff, parents of residents with care staff, parents of residents with their children, not to mention young residents with each other! Like all human beings our care workers search for solace in many places, their sense of humour, arguments, family and each other. (excerpt)
