The Last Watch

It’s the last night in Mountrose Guarda station for three officers. The station is being closed and they’re preparing to be disbanded around the country. But with the false arrest of a young man; mistakes are made that will force them to break the law they swore to uphold. Senior Officer Martin O’Sullivan along with Officer Karen Long and Officer John McCarthy are preparing for their last night working together. A story has broken on the news about alleged corruption findings within An Guarda Siochanna. The story brings to the surface the Officers frustration with how they are perceived by the people they are trying to help. These frustrations are felt the hardest by Officer Martin O’Sullivan. Martin O’Sullivan has been a serving Guard for nearly twenty years. With the closing of the station, he is being pressured from above to take early retirement. It’s been three years since he lost his wife to cancer and now finds himself looking in the mirror; loathing the uniform that he has worn for so long but at the same time afraid to take it off forever.
