Fata Morgana

This film’s theme is concerned with the legend of the first Hungarian serial killer, Pipey Steve (a.k.a. Viktória Fődi) who was killing violent husbands in return for flour, wine and ham in the South of Hungary, in Cursewick, at the beginning of the 20th century. The tale of Pipey is a personal story, a domestic melodrama, a fairy tale of muddled metamorphoses, in which an attractive peasant woman transforms into a brutal man. (excerpt)
